Strategies for Mentoring and Strengthening the Faith (Aqidah) of Converts to Islam, Orphans, and the Underprivileged at the Mutiara Cahaya Qolbu Foundation on Nias Island

This study aims to describe the mentoring strategies and faith-strengthening approaches implemented by the Mutiara Cahaya Qolbu Foundation for converts (muallaf), orphans, and the underprivileged (duafa) in Nias Island, as well as to identify the challenges encountered during the process. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field study method, conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the foundation applies a tawhid-based educational approach, moral development, memorization of the Qur’an and Hadith, as well as psychological and social approaches in its mentoring process. In addition, the foundation faces several challenges, including a shortage of educators, limited financial resources, and other constraints. Nevertheless, the learners’ enthusiasm and strong desire to understand Islam serve as key driving factors for the success of the mentoring programs. This research provides significant contributions to the development of Islamic da’wah and educational strategies in Muslim-minority areas and highlights the importance of integrating faith education with social approaches in nurturing vulnerable groups.
